The Challenge

The Motley Fool Australia needed someone to bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution while deeply understanding the Australian market. They wanted to boost conversion rates and improve the user experience across their digital platforms.

My Role

As Creative Director, I wear multiple hats daily:

  • Visual Design - creating the visual hierarchy, fonts, colours, and images for reports, web pages, and videos
  • Front-End Development - transforming designs and Google Docs into clean, responsive HTML/CSS for WordPress
  • Video Production - making the calls on editing, pacing, and graphics for service and campaign videos
  • User Experience (UX) - implementing improvements based on CrazyEgg and Google Analytics data
  • Technical Problem-Solving - fixing issues and implementing new features

The Approach

My approach blends creative design with technical know-how and deep market understanding:

First, I tap into my decade of e-commerce experience to understand what works specifically for Australian users. Their behaviours differ significantly from global patterns - Aussies have unique browse habits and expectations.

For design work, I establish visual hierarchies that guide users through our content naturally. Every font choice, colour selection, and image placement serves to engage members and convert sales.

When developing, I focus on performance and user-friendliness. Pages need to load fast and work smoothly across all devices.

For video content, I tailor the editing style to match demographic viewing preferences. Someone watching a stock report has different expectations than someone checking out a membership offer.

All my work is backed by data. I regularly analyse user behaviour patterns to spot conversion opportunities and friction points.

Results
